2020 was the year I told myself I was going to begin taking myself seriously as a Hip Hop journalist. Listen to more music, start publishing content, and pitching to large platforms. I picked the right time to become more intentional about sharing Hip Hop content because it’s been an exceptional year so far.
As Hip Hop has gotten older and streaming becomes a cheaper alternative (for consumers and artists), the music is as eclectic and abundant as it has ever been. If you find yourself not knowing about upcoming albums, I encourage you to follow me on Twitter.
Below is a list of the 25 projects that I have enjoyed most this year. To evaluate the projects I have taken into account lyrics, production, cohesiveness and quality of features, and most importantly replay value.
25. Hus KingPin- Gunpowder
The Long Island MC continued dropping at fast pace in 2020. His 2nd project was a shorter LP with less features and more Hus. Content is gruesome & vivid, and plays like a series of short hood tales. Standout tracks: Bucketlist, Traffic.
24. CJ Fly- RUDEBWOY
