Brooklyn MC, Wade Wilson showed off his diverse influences & skillset on this project. As a fan of raw, personal writing & using music to let out frustration, I enjoyed giving this EP a few spins.
I break down the EP track by below.
Spring Training: Wade quickly sets the tone for his project by riding the beat with ease and showing that he’s a competent MC. Playing it safe, he sticks mainly to one flow on this track.
Season Opener: Flows seamlessly from the the opening track and does a better job of capturing his ability to spit. His rhymes show that he was holding back on the first track, but it’s dope to see his pen and personality come through.
Summer Stretch: The more rugged, raw beat makes him turn up his energy and spit with more confidence. He taps into experiences that have left him frustrated and pissed off and gives you a look into the shit he’s overcome.
Pennant Race: Using a pennant race as a metaphor he speaks candidly on his frustration with the shady shit and competitiveness that comes with being a rapper. More laid back than track, you can feel every word and emotion he’s trying to communicate.
Wild Card: Similar to Summer Stretch he’s upset and let’s some shit off his chest, while asserting himself as a force. He’s more…
